Hello Everyone!
I have been asked by a couple of people how did I do my milkmaid braid. So I thought today’s post should be a hair tutorial! And since this is my first hair tutorial, I decided to one up my hair game and do a fishtail braid. Before we begin, I just want everyone to know that I am the laziest person when doing my hair. So I like easy hairstyles and this is pretty simple.
Step 1: Bedhead Hair is Good
Before you start braiding, I would have your hair look like bedhead wavy. My hair naturally looks like this but if your hair doesn’t, I would recommend spraying Bumble to Bumble Surf Spray. This is also the perfect hairstyle to do if you have a day old hair. You need: bobby pins, two clear hair ties, a curling iron and hairspray. **I apologize for the lighting in this picture, I tried editing it but it made me even more ghostly.
Step 2: Pippi Longstocking
Part your hair however you like. Some like to go down the middle but I like parting it to the side and I like to have some pieces of hair in the front to frame my face. Grab one side and start fishtailing your hair. Then tie it off with your elastic hair tie. Repeat on the other side; your hair should look like two braided pigtails.

Instead of fishtailing your hair over, I did it under. For some reason, the first time I did the fishtail milkmaid braid, mine looked like Iggy Azalea’s hair at the Grammys. I did mine under because it makes the braid flat.
Step 3: Pull
After you fishtailed your hair, you are going to pull the pleats. This gives your braid a more dramatic look when you place it on your head. Don’t worry if it looks messy, it should look messy.
Step 4: Twist, Place & Repeat
Grab one braid and twist it. When you twist it, it doesn’t give that weird lump on the side. I actually learned this technique from Zoella.
Then lay it flat on your head and pin it with bobby pins.
Repeat on the other side and make sure to tuck the ends in. This can be a bit of a challenge, but don’t give up! Just keep messing with it until you find that placement you like.
Step 5: Curl the Framing Hairs
Since I’m lazy, I usually don’t curl the pieces in the front but since this is a tutorial I decided to do it for you. I would recommend curling away from your face.
Step 6: HAIRSPRAY
Lightly spray your hair. My favorite hairspray to use is Kenra because it’s super light, it does it’s job and you don’t need a lot.
Step 7: You’re done!
And you’re done! This hairstyle is perfect to wear during the day or night time. If you like today’s post make sure to click the like button. Also, if you already haven’t make sure to subscribe! I hope everyone enjoyed this tutorial. I would love to see your fishtail milkmaid braid!
