I have recently been craving french fries since Friday. Obviously french fries are not healthy so I decided to make an alternative choice; Vegan Avocado Fries!! My friend, Brittany, was telling me she wants to see more vegan recipe posts, so this one is for her 🙂 Before you start making this, just know this is a messy snack.
You will need:
ripe avocados, almond milk, whole wheat flour, panko bread crumbs, garlic salt, cayenne pepper, season salt and olive oil
Before you begin, put some garlic salt, cayenne pepper and season salt in the panko bread crumbs. Mix spices and bread crumbs together.
Step 1: Peel the Avocados
Peeling avocados is a challenge for me. I found it easier to cut an end off and make a sliver on the avocado’s skin. That way it makes it easier to peel.
Step 2: Slice the avocados
I cut my avocados this way because it is the closets shape I can make it looking like french fries.
Step 3: Almond Milk, Flour and Panko Bread Crumbs
Get the slice avocados and dip it into the almond milk. Then dip it into the flour; don’t be afraid to cover the entire slice with flour. You’re now going to place this in the panko bread crumbs. After it’s completely covered, put it on a covered baking sheet with a rack on top.
I found it a lot easier to have these ingredients in the order I dip it in.
Step 4: Olive Oil
After you completed every slice, spray some olive oil on it. If you don’t have your own olive oil bottle, here’s a link to site you can get yours.
Step 5: Bake!
Place the baking sheet in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. You will know when it’s done when it’s light golden brown. Let it cool for a couple of minutes before you eat it.
