Hi Everyone!
I’m kinda shocked/ sad it’s August 😕. School is around the corner so I need to do as many summer blog posts as I can!! Since it’s August, I think it would be a good time to blog about my favorite things I used in July. I think I’ll call this blog post, ‘July Favorites’… Super original right? #sarcasm I’m pretty sure I said this exact sentence in another favorites post. #OhWell
Pool Swan
If you noticed my header image, I’m on a swan. I’ve been debating on getting this swan for over 5 months and I finally decided to buy one. I named my pool swan Odette and she’s gorg. Odette can fit up to 3 people and is the perfect relaxing pool item. She’s also amazing to take selfies with 😉 I will say, it took 20 minutes to air her up so get an air compressor (make sure to buy an air compressor with air).
Kenra Shampoo & Conditioner
I recolored my balayage again; the color needed a re-vamp for this summer. Since I recolored, I decided to change shampoo and conditioner brands.. again. This time I got the Kenra Color Maintenance shampoo and conditioner. I absolutely love this shampoo and conditioner; I’m mentally kicking myself for not getting this in the first place!!! Have you even noticed when you get your hair colored, your hair feels dry and wiry? I feel like this shampoo and conditioner makes my hair feel softer and a lot healthier. And the best part is, Kenra doesn’t have a weird chemical smell!
Bed Head Motor Head Volume
Speaking of hair products, I’ve been using my TIGI Bed Head Motor Head Volumizer more in July. Bed Head Motor Head Volumizer gives my hair tons of body and volume. It also gives your hair a nice shine too. I have thick hair but it’s flat; I noticed a huge difference when I use this before I style my hair. If you get this, make sure to put this in your hair when it’s wet. If you put this product in when your hair is dry, it makes your hair look gelled back and gives you a bad 90s look.
Charm & Gumption Mug
When I found this mug, I felt like God told me, “Laura, besides family, friends, health, happiness etc., I’m giving you the greatest gift. You need to buy this mug”. It has Beyoncé, spirit animals, perfect for tea, it’s black and white, Beyoncé, Beyoncé, Beyoncé.. Do I have to give you a reason why I love this mug? Shout out to Charm & Gumption for creating my new favorite mug!
Makeup Brush
So I have a story to tell you; two weeks ago I was getting ready for work. While I was doing my makeup, I grabbed my Kabuki Brush and somehow dropped it. It bounced on my countertop, on to my toilet paper and made a perfect landing into the toilet 🙈😟 I’m still shocked that I managed to drop my brush in the toilet, even though I wasn’t even near the toilet!! I refuse to use a toilet soaked makeup brush so I went to MAC to purchase the 182 Buffer Brush. This obviously needed to be in my favorites.
Ghillie Shoes
I sound like I repeat myself when I say this but I love fashion, especially shoes. With my internship, I want to look professional but I also want to look like I belong in my age group. When I was in LA in June, I got these leather Ghillie shoes from Topshop. These shoes have been the summer trend; Fashion bloggers Danielle from WeWoreWhat and Aimee Song from songofstyle were spotted wearing similar shoes.
What I like about these is they’re a pointed toe, they’re work friendly and they can complete a work outfit. Even though I had them since June, I began to wear these more in July. I think it’s because it’s too hot to get super dressed up and these shoes are nice but not overly fancy.
Sunscreen
It’s not a secret that I use sunscreen but I do have a difficult time reapplying sunscreen. For me, reapplying sunscreen is messy and kinda annoying. Think about it: you already have a full set of makeup on, sunscreen can explode in your purse and it’s somewhat time-consuming blah blah blah.
I was recently introduced to the Color Science Sunscreen. I really love the packaging; it’s small enough to fit into your purse, it has a built-in brush and the sunscreen is powdered base. Â It also comes in different shades to match your skin tone! This sunscreen has a 50 SPF which is perfect for my sensitive skin.
