My thoughts on Soylent

Hi Everyone!

When I went to the Museum of Ice Cream, their waiting area shared a brick wall that had a mural of bottles and a label called Soylent. I’ve never heard of Soylent but it sounded cool and I assumed it was vegan. A couple of days later, Buzzfeed did a weight loss video and Kane lost weight by drinking Soylent!

I’m always down to try new foods if it’s plant-based (aka vegan food). Soylent is plant-based and surprisingly reasonably priced; it’s $2.69 per bottle and it comes in a box of 12. If you think about it, it’s cheaper than a Starbucks coffee and it’s healthier. I was able to get my hands on two different flavors: Original and Cafe Chai!

Original Soylent

I first purchased the Original Soylent and the best way for me to describe Soylent is creamy unsweetened soymilk with a hint of nuttiness. I typically like my protein drinks to be sweet so I wasn’t the biggest fan. However, it did keep me full so it did the job.

Chai Cafe

Recently Soylent released three new flavors and one that caught my eye was the Chai Cafe! The Chai Cafe is so good! I love Chai tea lattes and this tastes like one! And this one contains caffeine so it’s the perfect breakfast drink! Just make sure to shake it real good, otherwise the flavor will be on the bottom.

For me, I can’t drink Soylent every day because my skin freaks out when I eat/ drink too many soy products. And since I couldn’t drink this every single day, I couldn’t tell if I was losing weight.I wish I can drink this every day, I really like the convenience of Soylent. It’s an easy grab-n-go meal and it kept me full and that’s just drinking half the bottle. Have you tried Soylent? Let me know what your favorite flavor is in the comment section!
